Oriental Impression: Telling the Stories of the Ancient East through music
An ancient country with five thousand years of history, China has always been the cradle of civilisations and home to different thoughts and philosophies. As a native Chinese religion, Taoism evolved a culture of its own. Taoist music is mainly used in religious rituals and ceremonies, and its development is closely related to ancient ritualistic and folk music. Full of cultural characteristics, Taoist music is considered a significant part of China’s traditional musical culture.
Organised by Fung Ying Seen Koon and a regular performing group for Hong Kong Culture Festival, Hong Kong Taoist Orchestra has been bringing beautiful music to the public, enhancing their understanding of Taoist music.
This year, Hong Kong Taoist Orchestra will present their interpretation of Oriental Impressions through music, taking the audiences onto a spiritual journey to the mysterious and ancient East.
